My current ride. A new electric chapter.
30+ cars & vans · My own photos and memories
Mostly everyday cars and vans, with a few roof-down detours. Newest first, back to my first van. Most needed little beyond normal wear and tear; the two that went wrong are marked.
My current ride. A new electric chapter.
The practical side of the garage.
A red BRZ joins the photo album.
Small car. Open-top chapter.
UpkeepOne of my oldest cars. The air-con went and the engine had a leak; fixing both cost just over S$200, and it drove well again. An older car can still be economical.
Another MR-S, years after my yellow one.
Vans have always been part of my car story.
The blue Model 3 chapter.
Meant as a two-month car between my Stinger and my Tesla.
LessonThe air-con compressor died halfway through. With no time left to fix it, I let the car go and rented one for the rest of the gap. Even a short-term car needs room in the budget for one big repair.
A separate car from my earlier blue Stinger.
Back to a Swift. This time, a yellow Sport.
Red paint, black stripes, a different MINI.
Red, then blue. The same car, with a new colour.
A white Mazda3 Elegance sedan.
The black Z4, with its red interior.
Why againSame reasons as the M135i: in demand, good resale, and found through a direct owner.
An everyday hatchback in the mix.
Bought one. Sold it. Came back for a second.
Why twiceA brand people wanted, so it held its resale value well, and I found both through direct owners. A popular model is easier to sell on when you change your mind.
The white Z4 came before the M135i chapters.
A collection-day photo, dog included.
Dark blue. The mileage turned out to have been tampered with.
LessonThe odometer is not proof. Ask for the service records and check that the mileage on each one only goes up.
A very different shape in the garage.
The two-seater MINI with the white roof.
Space for the practical side of life.
A white MX-5 in the open-top chapter.
My earlier Stinger. A different car from the white one.
A compact crossover along the way.
Grey and automatic. Another chapter in my van years.
The next LiteAce chapter, this time an automatic.
The silver sedan, pictured carrying a little extra.
The CC Traders Club days, on four wheels.
The yellow MR-S. An early open-top chapter.
Bright green, with a manual gearbox.
My first ride, with Initial D’s Fujiwara tofu shop sticker on the side.
I used to chase that new-car feeling. Sometimes, the satisfaction faded almost as soon as I drove out of the showroom.
As I ease into retirement, moving up to ever more expensive cars isn’t where I want my money to go. I still love cars. These days, I get more enjoyment from sharing the experience and helping someone find their fit.
I’m a bread-and-butter car guy. Most of my 30-odd cars were everyday hatchbacks, sedans and vans, with a few fun detours along the way, from about S$30,000 to S$300,000. Until now I’ve helped friends and family. Now I’m opening it up.
I don’t buy for myself any more, but I still enjoy the digging. And I get to sit in a few cars I’ll never own again.
I’ve also run my own businesses for over a decade, so I read a car deal the way I read a set of accounts.

A buggy ride here, a dirt-bike outing there. I just enjoy trying things with wheels—and having a good day out.
A little adventure, along the way.
